NYA Destination Stockholm
The client.- NYA Destination
Stockholm is a Swedish market leader in the discount and late availability package hotel
sector in Stockholm. Since 1977 they have sold more than 2 million bookings to
tourists worldwide, generated 10 million visits to local tourist attractions and sold more
than half a million theatre tickets as part of a hotel package.
The requirements.- With the
creation of the website Stockholm à la Carte and the introduction of the tourism
pass Stockholm à la Carte Card, the company intended to offer their services
world-wide via the Web. The task was to completely localize the website in 10 languages
(Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Finnish, Polish, Russian, Estonian, Lithuanian,
Japanese) working from the original English version. Each linguistic version was to have
its own distinct domain, with an interwoven linking structure allowing the user to move
between the different language versions from any page and any version. Further linguistic
versions are currently being defined and translated.
The solution.- This project
involved a team of mother tongue translators, providing the localization of each site,
text proof-readers for any stylistic adaptations, a database manager to automate the
translation of recurring components (information tables, maps, hotel sheets), and
positioning experts to ensure the optimization of Html tags and the consistency of the
localized text. The sites obtained top ranking on the major search engines for most
combinations of keywords like stockholm hotels, stockholm hotel packages,
discounted hotels stockholm, etc., and numerous other secondary combinations, and
the sites currently receive an average of 100,000 unique visitors per month. Our team
handles to the day to day updates and periodic maintenance of the site, localizing and
optimizing new pages which are added to the original version.
