The client.- Ystad
Reserbyrå/Team Bornholm AB is a leading Swedish tourism company, located in Ystad.
The requirements.- With the
creation of the Bornholm website the company intended to promote their tourist
packages for one of the most characteristic destinations in the Baltic Sea: the Danish
island of Bornholm. The task was to completely localize the website in 5 languages
(German, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, and Polish) working from the original Swedish version
and a first english draft version. Each linguistic version was to have its own distinct
domain, with an interwoven linking structure allowing the user to move between the
different language versions from any page and any version. Further linguistic versions are
currently being defined and translated.
The solution.- Different project
teams were built to cover all target languages, with mother tongue translators providing
the localization of each site, text proof-readers for stylistic adaptations, and SEO/SEM
experts to ensure the optimization and the consistency of the localized text. The sites
obtained top ranking on the major search engines for most combinations of keywords like bornholm
hotels, bornholm hostels, bornholm cottages, bornholm camping
grounds, etc., and numerous other secondary combinations. The whole project has been
managed in cooperation with our Swedish partner.
